Getting started

The essentials to begin

What is Destinatarium?

Destinatarium is a service for sending transactional email from applications through a simple API. It is built for OTPs, receipts, password resets and other notifications your users expect to receive.

What is transactional email?

It is email an application sends automatically after an action or event, such as creating an account, requesting a new password, completing a purchase or receiving a notification. It is part of the product experience rather than a marketing campaign.

How do I start sending email with Destinatarium?

Create an account, add and verify the domain you will use as the sender, generate an API key with sending permission and make your first request. The API documentation includes a complete cURL example.

Do I need my own domain?

Yes. The domain in your sender address must be verified and active in your account. This proves you are authorized to use it and helps receiving servers authenticate your messages.

Do I need to know how to code?

To integrate sending into an application, you need to be able to make an HTTP request to the API. Our documentation provides an example ready to adapt; if you work with a technical team, they can usually connect it in a few steps.

Sending email

Messages, status and delivery

What types of email can I send?

You can send account confirmations, login codes or OTPs, password resets, receipts, order updates and other notifications related to your users’ actions.

Can I send marketing campaigns or newsletters?

No. Destinatarium focuses on transactional email rather than bulk marketing campaigns. This specialization lets us keep our infrastructure centered on the operational messages your users need to receive.

How long does an email take to arrive?

Destinatarium processes each accepted request asynchronously and gets it on its way as quickly as possible. Final delivery time also depends on the receiving server, sender reputation and its security filters.

How can I see what happened to an email?

The dashboard shows your sending history and the available status for each message. This lets you follow its journey and investigate an issue without working in the dark.

Does Destinatarium guarantee inbox placement?

No provider can guarantee inbox placement 100% of the time. The final destination depends on sender authentication and reputation, message content and recipient filters. Destinatarium processes the send correctly and gives you visibility into its status.

Plans and pricing

Quotas, billing and limits

Does Destinatarium have a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes up to 4,000 emails per month with no credit card required. You can review its domain, sender and retention limits in the pricing section.

How much does Destinatarium cost?

You can start for $0. Paid plans start at $5.99 per month and increase email quotas, domains, senders, retention and support. Always check the current prices and plan features in Pricing.

What happens if I exceed my plan’s email limit?

The Free plan does not offer additional email. Starter, Flow and Growth allow additional usage, with a different rate per 1,000 emails for each plan. Current limits and rates are listed in Pricing.

Can I pay monthly or annually?

Yes. Standard plans offer monthly and annual billing, and the annual option includes the equivalent of two months free. Enterprise uses custom terms.

Security

Domains and authentication

What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

They are authentication mechanisms that let other servers verify that email sent from your domain is legitimate. Correct configuration reduces spoofing and contributes to better deliverability.

Does Destinatarium use shared or dedicated IPs?

Free, Starter and Flow use shared IPs. Growth and Enterprise can add a dedicated IP. Check Pricing to compare the current plans.

Integrations and API

Does Destinatarium have an API?

Can I use Destinatarium with different programming languages?

Yes. You can integrate the API from any language or platform that can make HTTPS requests and send JSON. You are not limited to Node.js.
